The Corran Estate, built by Alexander McNeill in 1881, fell to disrepair and neglect in the years his partying son Malcolm inherited the house in 1932. His wife died in 1880 before the Estate was completed and Alexander never remarried. Malcolm died in 1956 leaving it and substantial debt to his housekeeper. She was unable to maintain the Estate and was eventually convinced to leave the Estate. It was sold to an individual from Toronto in 1960 who never visited the property. It was repeatedly vandalized, and following the sale to the Conservation Authority in 1976 and was destroyed by arson leaving only the stone shell.
There is a foundation for the barn located nearby the house through the cover of trees and grasses. The dirt road into the Estate is not well maintained and the railing and stairwell down to the private beach are declining. If significant money is not spent on this Estate in the next several years much of the remaining historical foundations and items found around the property will be lost.
